Each year, Fire Paradox installs a scientific base common to the teams of research in an area subjected to great hazards of forest fire, in order to carry out observations and experiments on real fires.

In 2007, it will be install in Lousã, close of Coimbra in Portugal, in the Center of Operations and Forest Techniques, that is a center of formation on management of the forests. This center accomodates the national team of suppression fire, made up by Portuguese, Spanish and Argentinian frameworks. The site includes an air base intended for the fire control, where an observation aircraft of the fires with cameras will be positioned in August.

The scientific personnel of Fire Paradox will be present from the 06th to August 17th , but the base will be operational at the 01st of August to September according to weather risks'.

Forest fires active in Portugal, with the most significant phenomenon. Phenomenon with more than 10 vehicles or with more than two hours of duration or if the fires are into a protected area or in a forest perimeter with houses and infrastructures in danger.
