« Bosa 2008 » : a branch of the summer base of Lousã in Sardinia (Italy)
From the 25th of August to the 6th of September, the base of Lousã has extended its activity in Sardinia, with the opening of an operational base. This base has been arranged by two teams of the Fire Paradox project, the Corpo Forestale e di Vigilanza Ambientale (CFVA) and Espaces Méditerranéens. It has been located in the Institute of Agriculture - Istituto Agrario professionale per l’agricoltura e l’ambiente « G.A. Pischedda near Santa Maria’s aeronautic base, on the west coast’s mountains, in Bosa. Divided into two periods, of one week each, the base will have the participation of fifty people, among which some delegates of the Ente regionale sarda, the fire-fighters of Sardinia, the Corpo Forestale of Italy and Sicily and some members of Departament General d ́Émergencies i Seguretat Civil (DGESC-GRAF) from Catalonia. The main aim of the base is to realize a practical training about the use of fire on wildfires, in a region of this Italian island in which fire is very often used at the end of summer for agricultural and pastoral purposes.
